Minca

A small mountain village 30 mins drive north of Santa Marta on the edge of the Seirra Nevada park. We spent our time here swimming in the rivers and waterfalls and eating some excellent artisan bread, a rarity in central and south America so far as it is mostly sweet packaged bread. Minca has become a popular destination for locals escaping Santa Marta for the weekend and the home we stayed in by the river had the activity of Colombian tourists swimming and relaxing with their families. On the morning of our third day we were collected by Expotur and taken to Santa Marta where the beginning of our four-day hike to the lost city would begin.
