After arriving late, we spent a peaceful night camping at Lake Wanaka. In the morning, we set off early to a backdrop of mountains surrounding the lake. New Zealand has some truly beautiful landscapes. We enjoyed coffee and brunch at Urban Grind before setting off to hike Rob Roy Glacier trail. We climbed the mountain path, up the valley, which follows the roaring river, through forests and over waterfall streams to reach the viewpoint of the glacier. We saw the cute, green Kea parrot in the alpines and could hear them twittering too. It is a serene setting and high up in between the towering rock walls is the impressive glacier shimmering in the light.
