Melbourne

So after landing in Lauban Bajo, we where struck by the differences of this part of Indonesia to Bali as expected. It was a much dirtier, smellier town and also very expensive in comparison to Bali it seems we had become a bit spoilt in the last few weeks and being back to cold shower and pretty grim accommodation was a bit of a shock. The first night being a Friday we got the pattern of local bar music till the early hours followed by an hourly call to prayer from the local mosque starting at 3.30am, luckily we still had some ear plugs left.

Our first full day we where up at 5am anyway to get to the harbour and off on a boat excursion of the Komodo national park sites. First stopping at the picture perfect island of Padar, before heading on Pink Beach for some snorkelling and then a visit Komodo park where we saw a couple of the dragons sleeping in the afternoon sun, before back on the boat to long beach and then home by around 7pm, a long but lovely day.

The second day we went out with Uber Scuba dive centre, and had three dives the highlight being the second dive which is one of the top dives to complete in the world Batu Bolong, an amazing sea wall with such an abundance of varying sized sea life it felt like diving in an aquarium.

On our last day we took a bike and drove west visiting Cunca Wulang Waterfall, Flores was pretty and we spent the late afternoon at Sea-esta pool and restaurant where you get an excellent view of sunset.
